On the evening of Thursday November 12th, the community of Westminster, Colorado joined FRESC’s organizing team to take part in a groundbreaking event that set the tone for future collaboration and a united community voice. Community residents, small business owners, and faith leaders from Westminster convened in one room at the Advent Lutheran Church where energized conversations flowed and neighbors connected in a way they had never done before. Conversations amongst community members included topics such as access to transit, affordable housing for everyone, supporting local businesses, and the need to have a powerful voice in decisions being made that affect the community of Westminster.
This kick-off meeting was the result of months of door-knocking, meetings and countless conversations that FRESC staff members had with Westminster residents. From meeting with community members inside their homes, to discussing hopes of the community with local business owners, FRESC was able to establish a solid group of community members who truly care about the future of their community. We look forward to furthering our outreach efforts in the city of Westminster and continuing to develop leadership skills with members of the community.
