Together we honored past victories and recommitted ourselves to our shared vision of good jobs and strong communities for everyone. Many organizations and individuals helped secure a strong second decade for FRESC by sponsoring tables, buying tickets, winning a silent auction prize or two, and responding to Commerce City Mayor Pro Tem Dominick Morenoís impassioned call to action. Thank you to everyone who contributed to the eventóyour generosity fuels our mission.
FRESCís celebration was such a success that we are setting a new goal to finish 2011 even stronger than we thought possible. Many people signed up to be monthly sustainers of FRESC, giving at least $10 a month in honor of FRESCís 10th anniversary. There are many more people out there who share our vision of an economy that works for everyone and can support that vision with a monthly donation to FRESC. Are you one of them?
FRESC needs your support to continue winning for working families. At the event we honored some of the recent achievements that FRESC and many coalition partners made possible:
∑Convincing 38,000 Denver voters to support paid sick days
∑Cleaning our air and creating good green jobs through a new renewable energy standard
∑ Increasing affordable housing near transit through a joint development policy at RTD
At our dinner, we were honored to have Ellen Golombeck, Executive Director of the Colorado Department of Labor and Employment, and Wisconsin State Representative Tamara Grigsby share their experiences with us. Ellen and Tamara called on those present to join with them and fix our economy. They believe that FRESC is essential to making sure 2012 is the year that things turn around for working families.
